I exercise and teach at Bobbi's Pole Studio, Perth. Pole dancing burns a huge number of calories per session as you are lifting your own body weight many times. I'm often asked if I lift weights or go to the gym but I don't need to. Pole dancing has come a long way to become an incredibly challenging sport - there is even a pole dancer in Cirque du Soleil. I feel like Superwoman compared to when I wasn't fit. I feel more energetic, my body image and self-confidence is enhanced, I'm more focused, and I'm healthier. The fitness I have gained from pole dancing has increased my enjoyment of life in every way imaginable. My bestie and I do Jacob's Ladder, sprints up Mount Street, with an upper body and core work-out two mornings a week and I'll hit the beach a morning or two a week for soft sand running. I play social netball with a cool bunch of girls one night a week, which is a killer cardio session. But netball is really hard on your body so the rest of the time I like to swim, run, skip - anything that will get my heart rate up. Netball is my first sporting love and I adore hanging out on the court with the girls. I follow that up with a refreshing swim, one of my favourite ways to start the day. Soft sand running is a great way to tone my lower body and get in a good cardio work-out. It's just magic first thing in the morning and I find the beach a really revitalising place to be.
